These are our reviews of the seven POS systems we cover for New Zealand. Every one is sold to NZ businesses and either integrates with at least one NZ EFTPOS provider (Windcave, Shift4 (formerly Smartpay) or Eftpos NZ) or processes card payments in NZ itself. Systems that don't work here, like Square, aren't on the list.
Each review is our own desk research: NZ pricing, which EFTPOS terminals it integrates with (checked against the providers' partner lists and the POS vendors' own pages), Xero, offline mode and contract terms. Every page lists its sources and when we last checked them. Read how we review.
Short of time? Start with our picks by business type: cafés, restaurants, retail shops, grocery stores and dairies, bottle stores, food trucks and market stalls. Or put every system side by side in the comparison table, and check your terminal with the EFTPOS checker.
Looking for an old review?
This site first published POS software reviews in 2009. If you came looking for our old restaurant reviews of Aldelo or Microsale, both still trade as US restaurant POS companies, but we found no NZ EFTPOS integration listed for either. Our restaurant picks cover systems that do integrate here. If you're on Microsoft Retail Management System (RMS) or Microsoft Dynamics POS 2009, read our Microsoft RMS alternatives guide.
